Turmeric Golden Milk Recipe

This easy Turmeric Golden Milk recipe is a lightly spiced drink. In fact, turmeric tea or “golden milk” as it’s also called, has been revered since ancient times for its healing properties. It is similar in flavor to chai and packed with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, thanks to a dose of peppery turmeric. Our family loves this turmeric tea recipe and it is a favorite staple in our home. I used to mostly drink chamomile or green tea for the health benefits, but this tea with its earthy golden spice is perhaps an even more powerful (and soothing) remedy. A touch of honey adds just the right amount of sweetness, while the black pepper adds a little heat. Great For Pitta, Kapha & Vata Body Type's.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Of Coconut Milk (Any organic milk will do really)
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • A Sprinkle Of Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Of Ghee
  • Organic Honey Or Organic Raw Cane Sugar to taste

Directions

  1. Place milk in a saucepan over low/medium heat.
  2. Bring to low boil.
  3. Add all ingredients except the honey or sugar. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Turn off heat, and allow the mixture to cool to a warm drinkable temperature.
  5. When the mixture has cooled, add honey or Cane sugar to taste accordingly.
  6. Serve warm.

Do not add the honey until the end, as heated honey is considered toxic very hard to digest and changes form as per Ayurveda.
